“Dak can lead us to a championship” Cowboys EVP Stephen Jones Confirms Faith in Dak Prescott Despite Contract Delay

The Dallas Cowboys have not extended the contract of the three-time Pro Bowl quarterback Dak Prescott, which subsequently raised doubts about whether the squad believes that the quarterback is the team’s future answer as the Cowboys have seen rising postseason shortcomings.

The executive vice president of the squad, Stephen Jones, has recently stated to Aersdam Schein on Mad Dog Sports Radio that there is no doubt about Prescott’s abilities in leading the squad to great feats.

He mentioned, as per NFL Network, “Absolutely. I mean, I totally think Dak can lead us to a championship. He does everything the right way. He’s certainly the leader of this football team. He keeps everybody motivated in the offseason. He’s got everybody working out and doing all the things that it takes to put in the work to give yourself every opportunity to win a championship.”

Further continuing, “It just so happens that sometimes, you know, that old oblong football doesn’t bounce your way. And we’ve had some tough breaks and tough games there in the postseason. But, you know, we’ve won 12 games three years in a row. I think that’s right at the top in terms of what teams have done over a three-year period. And, you know, we’re hanging around the rim. We’ve just gotta go up there and grab it, to use a basketball term, and dunk it in. We’re hanging around the rim. We just gotta get the job done.”

The Cowboys were able to reach the postseason when considering their last three seasons. They finished their 2021 season with a 12-5 record and the first spot in the NFC East they lost the Wild Card Round to San Francisco 49ers.

Their 2022 season also ended with a record of 12-5 and they were second in the division title. They defeated the Tampa Bay Buccaneers in the Wild Card Round however lost the Divisional playoffs to San Francisco 49ers.

The Cowboys’ last campaign concluded with the same record and they were first in the NFC East. In this season, they lost the Wild Card Round game to the Green Bay Packers.
