The Roast of Tom Brady on Netflix last night has got considerably high reviews despite the ribald nature of the comments, but it did invoke bad memories for Mike Greenberg.
Get Up host Jay Williams was chatting to his fellow anchor Greenberg when he suggested a roast was in order.
“I feel like we should do a roast of Greeny,” Williams said
.
“What?” Greenberg replied with a sharp tone.
“I feel like we should do a roast on you,” Williams responded.
“Are you saying that because you don’t know we did that once?” Greenberg replied. “The Mike and Mike roast?”
Williams went on, You did a Mike and Mike roast?”
Greenberg answered, “Oh no, no, let’s move past that quickly.
“There are some memories in life that you try as hard as you possibly can to erase from your memory bank. Trust me.”
For the younger audience some context.
In 2010 ESPN did a mock roast of the Mike and Mike Show but needless to say it flopped.
The event was not broadcast and was meant for charity but obviously details leaked out.
From downing Vodka to anecdotal oddities, you can be sure ESPN will not be reviewing the return of the Roast anytime soon.
