The Vikings jumped at the chance to move to 17th in the overall first round draft pick to snare Dallas Turner and the edge rusher is looking for a big season.
Turner was an expected top ten draft pick so Brian Flores picked up a score, even though it cost the team a tidy sum.
Turner will buddy up with with free-agent additions Jonathan Greenard and Andrew Van Ginkel.
Flores tried to sum up the value of Turner by describing him as a Dont’a Hightower type of player.
“I was asked this recently,” Flores said. “The name that comes to mind, and he was another Alabama player, is Dont’a Hightower. Big, fast, physical, great traits and intangibles, leadership. That’s the name that comes to mind. I would say he’s probably a little faster than Hightower.”
Turner has been likened to Hightower before, by former Alabama coach Nick Saban.
Hightower played nine seasons for the Patriots winning three Superbowl rings, so if the shoe fits, then Turner will hope to follow in the big man’s footsteps.
