Eliot Wolf, the man behind the Patriots" NFL draft strategy made a move that left many surprised. He chose to draft two quarterbacks – Drake Maye and Joe Milton – something completely contrary to NFL history.

The dynamic Patriots were the only team this season to draft two quarterbacks – Drake Maye in the high-pressure third round and Joe Milton at six.

Analysts were left questioning the strategy behind this unconventional decision. However, Wolf, in response to the scepticism, has justified his decision, revealing it was the lure of pure talent that swayed his judgement.

He could not resist landing Joe Milton. Speaking on Adam Schefter’s podcast, Wolf said of Milton, “He was just one of those picks where there was too much talent in him to pass that up."

Wolf"s praises for Milton, known for having one of the strongest arms in the entire league, did not end with just that.

He suggested that the value of this pick went beyond immediate performance, focusing on the potential that lay in Milton"s development as an elite passer.

Wolf believes that despite his round-six selection, Milton was an excellent pick. His faith in Milton"s potential to develop into a quarterback par excellence perhaps swayed the Patriots" decision in his favor during the NFL Draft.

"I had the opportunity to watch Joe play live, the last game of the year against Vanderbilt. I got there really early and watched him warm up. Just watching him throw the football is unbelievable," Wolf said. "He’s 6-5, 245 pounds. He’s got a rocket for an arm. He’s athletic. He played in [Tennessee head coach Josh] Heupel’s offense there. It’s not an NFL offense, but we feel like there’s some things that we can work with and develop,"

Patriots are keenly waiting to see Drake Maye play. His performance will undoubtedly impact the likelihood of Milton making it to the field.

Regardless, Wolf insists Milton can potentially ascend to elite levels, even if his time is not here just yet.
