Ex-NFL star Antonio Brown seeks to make amends with WNBA’s newest diva Caitlin Clark

Antonio Brown, the former NFL wide receiver, recently tried to patch things up with WNBA rookie Caitlin Clark after his social media comments caused a stir.

Last month, following Clark’s WNBA Draft, Antonio Brown posted a series of tweets about the Indiana Fever star that were widely considered offensive and disrespectful. These comments targeted her appearance and made light of her new endorsement deal. To which, Clark responded by blocking him on social media.

Now, the ex-New England Patriots star appeared on an episode of “Fearless with Jason Whitlock,” titled “Ep 689: Antonio Brown UNPLUGGED on Tom Brady, Caitlin Clark, Angel Reese & Trauma” and tried to downplay the situation. He claimed he was just “playing around” and showered Clark with praise for her basketball skills. He expressed interest in a potential sit-down interview with Clark, even suggesting it could benefit her career. He also mentioned his daughter being a fan of hers.

It remains to be seen if Clark will be receptive to Brown’s attempts to make amends.

On May 3, Clark, the number one draft pick by the Indiana Fever, took center stage in a preseason game against the Dallas Wings. Clark scored 21 points despite just 6 successful shots out of 15 attempts. She grabbed 3 rebounds and dished out 2 assists. However, the Fever fell short, losing 79-76 in a last-second nail-biter.

Caitlin Clark also has a shot at Olympic glory in Paris, but it’s not a slam dunk. Clark hasn’t participated in a senior Team USA training camp due to her NCAA commitments. There’s an unwritten rule of “paying your dues” within the national team, which might favor more experienced players.

FYI, Clark’s early success in the WNBA will be her chance to impress selectors. The final Team USA roster won’t be decided until June 2024.
