Cavaliers’ owner Dan Gilbert is confident that Donovan Mitchell will sign an extension with the team. Mitchell, an All-Star guard, is eligible for a four-year extension worth $200.4 million. However, there have been rumors about his potential departure from Cleveland.
NBA insiders believe Donovan Mitchell has Miami ‘high’ on his list of destinations https://t.co/7qCECP2Lkq

In 2020, Mitchell signed a five-year max extension with the Utah Jazz, which included a player option for the fifth year. Last summer, the Cavaliers offered him a max extension, but it was $55 million less than what they can offer this summer. Mitchell’s decision to stay with the Jazz was driven primarily by financial considerations.
Although Mitchell initially preferred to be traded to New York or Miami, the Cavaliers made the best offer, giving him the chance to be the leading scorer and face of a promising young team.
While the Cavaliers had a successful season, winning 51 games but losing in the first round of the playoffs, the big question is whether Mitchell would consider leaving Cleveland if they struggle again in the playoffs.
Ultimately, the decision could come down to money. If the Cavaliers offer a max $200 million extension, Mitchell is likely to take it, even if he eventually wants to leave.
Superstars being traded is not uncommon, and having a guaranteed contract would be a smart move for Mitchell.
Mitchell expressed his desire to win and is tired of losing in the first round.
Despite battling a knee injury, he led the Cavaliers to victory in Game 7 against the Orlando Magic with 39 points, nine rebounds, and five steals. This win marked Cleveland’s first playoff-series victory without LeBron James since 1993.
To advance further in the playoffs, Mitchell and the Cavaliers will face the top-seeded Boston Celtics in a challenging series. However, Mitchell’s ability to carry the team when necessary, provides them with some reassurance.

Same insider that said the exact same thing right before he ended up in Cleveland. People thinking Cleveland will just trade him where he wants to go versus taking the best offer are crazy. Even if he refuses to extend plenty of teams can still out bid miami for a 1 year rental

Dame only wanted to go to Miami and we all know how that turned out. Dan Snyder hates the Heat. Don’t see it happening

Why go to Miami where Cleveland actually has a better team than them

Only makes sense if Jimmy & Bam still there and even then they still need a true center. Maybe a D-Mitch & Allen for Herro & Duncan Robinson
