“This year, I’m healthy” Colts’ Josh Downs Eyes Breakout Season After Injury-Plagued Rookie Year

The wide receiver of the Indianapolis Colts, Josh Downs, in the last campaign saw himself break rookie record for receptions by registering 68 passes. He was second behind Michael Pittman Jr. and also posted 771 yards and two touchdowns while going through a knee injury.

However, his knee injury aggravated later in the second half of season, subsequently slowing him down. The wide receiver has recently shared that he has been healthy during the offseason. He mentioned, as per Joel A. Erickson of Indianapolis Star, “Last year I was hurt pretty much the whole offseason. This year, I’m healthy, so I really can improve my game, improve my athleticism, improve my strength.”

However, Downs has the capacity to handle some of the crucial responsibilities that fall on Pittman Jr. and he has also been working hard to take his game to a much more elevated level. Downs further expresses, “I feel like I have some little things I can improve on in the route releases. I left some plays on the field last year, but everybody does that. I looked at those plays. I’m trying to identify coverages better – things like that.”

The Colts have recently drafted the two-time CFP National Champion wide receiver, Adonai Mitchell. The organization has also inked Michael Pittman Jr. with a three year deal as well.

Alec Pierce is another talented prospect on the lineup for the Colts. Downs, moving further, will come into possession of a lot of opportunities with which he can demonstrate his polished abilities.
