The WNBA preseason is in full swing and that means fans have a chance to see a new generation of talent show off their skills. There are several highly rated players that have entered the league but few carry the reputation of Louisiana State University star Angel Reese.
The 22-year-old was the No. 7 overall draft pick to the Chicago Sky in April and will be looking to make a name for herself in the league in the coming year. Reese is becoming a popular figure in Chicago, but it was in New York where she made headlines this week. The versatile athlete attended the Met Gala in Manhattan. The event fell on her birthday which made the day even more special.
Balancing basketball and the spotlight is not an easy task. Reese took a private jet to make it out to New York where she dazzled on the red carpet before turning around and heading back to the Windy City for a preseason game on Wednesday.
Reese had a clear message for anyone that criticised her for leaving the Sky’s practice and training session to attend the star-studded event.
“I went to the Met Gala, slayed the Met Gala in New York, came back, slayed against New York. It’s what I do,” said Reese.

Reese made a name for herself in college where she was a standout player on Kim Mulkey’s LSU women’s team. She guided her team to the NCAA championship in 2023 and then helped them return to the Elite Eight this year.
Her new team the Chicago Sky had no problems dealing with New York Liberty and went on to win the game 101-53. Reese finished with 13 points, 5 rebounds and an assist.
