Kansas City Chiefs wide receiver Rashee Rice has been involved in a series of legal troubles. Before the 2023 NFL Draft, there was an alleged incident involving Rice while he was at Southern Methodist University (SMU).
The incident
According to reports, Rice believed that former SMU basketball player Kendric Davis was seeing Rice’s girlfriend. In response, Rice and some of his friends reportedly went to an SMU basketball game, where multiple bullets were fired into Kendric Davis’s empty car. This incident came to light after the draft, during which the Chiefs selected Rice in the second round as the fifty-fifth overall pick.

Other legal issues
Unfortunately for Rice, this isn’t the only legal issue he’s facing. In March, he was involved in a street-racing crash in the Dallas area, which resulted in multiple injuries unrelated to the street racing. He now faces up to eight felony charges related to that incident. Additionally, he is under investigation for allegedly hitting a photographer at a Dallas-area club.
The concerns
These incidents have raised concerns about Rice’s propensity for breaking the law, and it’s likely that NFL Commissioner Roger Goodell will need to address the situation. As a result, the Chiefs may need to prepare to be without Rice for an extended period during the 2024 season. They’ve already added wide receiver weapons by signing Hollywood Brown and drafting Texas speedster Xavier Worthy in the first round.

Buddy ain't going anywhere. Pile on, but dude's going to be making big catches come playoff time. I know the same fans that are calling for the Chiefs to cut him, are the same ones that secretly are happy when their team picks him up.

So the hit and run incident, assaulting a photographer and now attempted murder all within a small time frame. He needs to be locked up for a long time.

Perfect fit for that culture. The only 3 teams with more arrest than the #Chiefs since 2000 are the Bengals, Broncos and Vikings

Conclusion
Rice had an impressive rookie season, with 938 receiving yards and 7 touchdowns in the regular season, along with 262 yards and a touchdown in the postseason. However, his legal troubles are now overshadowing his on-field performance.
