GG Jackson believes “[Victor Wembanyama] is gonna be the greatest player to ever play the game"

Grizzlies forward GG Jackson stirred the basketball world with bold claims about the future of the game during a recent appearance on Run It Back.

According to Jackson, the title of the greatest NBA player of all time may soon belong to none other than San Antonio Spurs rookie sensation, Victor Wembanyama.

Despite having only completed his rookie season, Wembanyama has already emerged as one of the league"s most promising talents. The French native showcased his prowess with remarkable statistics, averaging 21.4 points, 10.6 rebounds, and 3.9 assists per game in his debut year.

He also led the league in blocks with an impressive average of 3.6 per game, earning him the NBA Rookie of the Year award unanimously.

Wembanyama"s defensive prowess didn"t go unnoticed either, as he finished second in the Defensive Player of the Year voting and was hailed as the best defensive player in the league according to The Athletic"s anonymous NBA player poll.

Victor Wembanyama believes there is still room for improvement

However, despite his remarkable achievements, Wembanyama remains driven by a relentless pursuit of improvement. Dismissing suggestions that he had surpassed expectations, Wembanyama expressed a constant desire to push harder and achieve more.

While Wembanyama"s success shone brightly, the same couldn"t be said for the Spurs" team performance. The franchise endured another disappointing season, finishing with a 22-60 record and missing the playoffs for the fifth consecutive year.

Nonetheless, optimism abounds as the Spurs look ahead to the 2024 NBA Draft, where they are expected to secure a top pick, and rumors swirl about adding a star point guard to complement Wembanyama.

As discussions about Wembanyama"s potential dominance continue to intensify, it"s clear that he"s a player destined for greatness. While it may be premature to compare him to legends like Jordan and James, his trajectory suggests that he"s well on his way to etching his name into the annals of basketball history.
