Shaquille O’Neal Releases Diss Track As Feud With Former NFL Star Shannon Sharpe Continues

Diss tracks are common in the rap world and even athletes have been known to call out their colleagues on songs. Now it appears as if the trend has been taken on by sports media personalities.

Former NBA MVP Shaquille O’Neal and Shannon Sharpe are in the midst of a heated back and forth that just won’t go away.

The issue started after Shaq was speaking on TNT’s Inside the NBA and informed 2024 NBA MVP Nikola Jokic that he selected Shai Gilgeous-Alexander over the Serbian center with his MVP vote.

Sharpe could have stayed out of it but choose to give his two cents and stated that Shaq was “envious” of Jokic achievements. Jokic was awarded his third MVP title in four seasons this season. Although Shaq was a 15-time All-Star, he was named the league MVP on only one occasion in 2020. Sharpe also questioned the former NBA stars work ethic and questioned whether O’Neal could have been more disciplined during his playing days.

Shaq countered Sharpe once again stating that he was the most dominant player in his position and that a player with Sharpe’s resume in the NFL had no right to judge him. He accused Sharpe of using his platform to gossip and to get clicks. He also listed some of his achievements including his four championship rings, three NBA Finals MVPs and being named in the NBA Top 75.

The diss track which was released this week from O’Neal was a creative way to respond and the media personality/former players/rapper had some nice lines. For sports fans that are following this story, it is definitely worth a listen.
