“Elite. Elite” Five-time Pro Bowler Jarvis Landry Heaps Praise on Jaguars New First-round Receiver Brian Thomas Jr.

Louisiana State University’s Brian Thomas Jr. may have been the fourth wide receiver off the board at the 2024 NFL Draft, but the 6-3 star is already turning heads.

Thomas was drafted as the 23rd overall pick by the Jacksonville Jaguars and featured in the team’s rookie minicamp this week. It didn’t take long for receiver to impress his peers with one former NFL star particularly impressed by his abilities.

“Elite. Elite. So, just watching him out here and seeing it first hand in person, I’ve seen it on TV a couple times, but seeing it first-hand, he is elite,” said Jarvis Landry to reporters after the practice.

During his heyday, Landry was considered one to the NFL’s premier receivers. He is a five time Pro Bowler and led the league in receptions in 2017. Landry has played in 135 regular season and playoff games over a nine year career with the Miami Dolphins, Cleveland Browns and New Orleans Saints. The 31-year-old has not taken the field since December of 2022, but is looking to make a comeback next year.

Landry and Thomas Jr. both attended LSU, a school that has developed some of the game’s top received over the least two decades. Odell Beckham Jr., Ja’Marr Chase and Justin Jefferson all attended LSU.

Last season with the Tigers, Brian Thomas Jr. finished with 1177 receiving yards on 68 catches and averaged a whopping 17.3 receiving yards per reception.

With Calvin Ridley and Zay Jones moving on from the Jaguars this summer, Thomas Jr. will likely be called on to play a big role in 2024.
