“He’s one heck of a quarterback” Commanders’ Jayden Daniels and Luke McCaffrey Forge Promising Connection for Future Success

The Washington Commanders, after locking in their star quarterback, Heisman Trophy winner Jayden Daniels, also selected wide receiver in the third round. Luke McCaffrey was picked up in the third round as the 100th pick and with the acquisition, the Commanders ensured the future of the duo with the squad.

With the prospects in place, their dynamic partnership will be highly sought after. However, according to McCaffrey, the duo have already started working on their bond and following the rookie minicamp, both the quarterback and wide receiver have shared that they are already prospering with their connection.

According to Pro Football Talk, McCaffrey mentioned, “He’s one heck of a quarterback and he’s a lot of fun to play with from a personality standpoint, so I’ve had a blast. People who love football are going to get along, and he’s someone who loves football and I consider myself someone who loves football.”

Before changing his position to wide receiver, McCaffrey also played as a quarterback for the Nebraska Cornhuskers and Rice Owls. So, his background in the position has helped to build a connection with Daniels. He further states, “It helps a lot. It’s a position that’s hard to understand unless you’ve played it. The biggest thing I’ve noticed is the communication aspect. You speak the same language, you understand, and that’s something going into rookie minicamp you try and get a head start on.”

McCaffrey in 2023 was named to First-team All-AAC. His developing partnership with the quarterback will prove beneficial for the Commanders once the next season begins.
