It was no secret that the 2024 NFL Draft was an offensive heavy draft class with plenty of top-tier quarterback, wide receivers and offensive lineman with high grades. It was no surprise that six quarterback and seven wide receivers were selected in the first round but the Las Vegas Raiders decision to draft tight end Brock Bowers with the 13th overall pick did shock a few people. Raiders coach Antonio Pierce, however, believes he has added one of the most well-rounded tight end prospects the league has seen in years.
“I mean, you"re talking about probably the most dynamic player in college football at that tight end position in a long time," stated Pierce when asked about Bowers per Pro Football Talk. “It"s rare you get a guy like that [who] can line up as a slot receiver, see him in the backfield, reverses, catch the ball."

Bowers was part of the Kirby Smart"s powerhouse program at the University of Georgia. He went on to win two national championships and was a two-time John Mackey Award winner.
After analysing the 6-4, 230 pound star, Piece was particular impressed with his versatility and that he is capable of playing multiple roles. The other aspect that stood out was his blocking and his ability to help out when he is not on the ball.
“I think more importantly, [it"s] his toughness. Watching him block in the SEC, watching him get after guys, I mean that"s what impressed me" added Pierce.
Over three seasons with the Bulldogs, Bowers racked up over 2500 receiving yards, and recorded 31 total touchdowns with an average of 14.5 yards per reception.
