The New York Jets, sans the ten-time Pro Bowl and four-time MVP, iconic quarterback, Aaron Rodgers, saw a dismissive 2023 season. However, they have reportedly made an effort to add more panache to the offensive coaching staff.
According to Connor Hughes, the NFL Insider for SNY, “The Jets made legitimate attempts this offseason to hire someone who would, essentially, replace Hackett. Not as a new offensive coordinator, but a title above who would run the show. The Jets had enough things they needed to address this offseason without replacing areas they’re content with. That pursuit tells me, internally, there are legitimate concerns with Hackett’s ability to successfully run things.”
The New York Jets hired Nathaniel Hackett in January 2023, and with Rodgers injury, the Jets season steadily collapsed. With Zach Wilson, Trevor Siemian, and Tim Boyle, the Jets could not move further in the season.
Hackett was the head coach of the Denver Broncos in 2022 and before that, he was the offensive coordinator of the Buffalo Bills from 2013 to 2014, and then served as the quarterback coach of the Jacksonville Jaguars from 2015 to 2016.
He was offensive coordinator for the Jaguars from 2016 to 2018. After the Jaguars, he was hired by the Green Bay Packers and as an OC, he was with the squad from 2019 to 2021. However, the Jets have not yet acquired any new staff for the offensive position. Hackett will be in his second year with the Jets considering the next NFL season.
