The Cleveland Cavaliers are currently playing without their five-time All-Star guard, Donovan Mitchell, and lost Game 4 of the Conference Semifinals to the Boston Celtics with a concluding score of 102-109.
Mitchell’s future with the team is currently in question, as the Cavaliers will need to make pivotal decisions considering the star. However, as per The Athletic, it is stated that the Los Angeles Lakers could be a team interested in acquiring the prominent shooting guard.

According to Jason Lloyd of The Athletic, “If Mitchell doesn’t sign an extension with Cleveland this summer, the Cavs will have to explore trade options—and one of the teams standing at the front of the line will be the Lakers. It’s possible, given Mitchell’s current condition with his calf, that he has already played his final game in a Cavs jersey.”
According to the report, Mitchell is “hopeful” that he could return for the next game against the Celtics. However, it further suggested that it would be “unrealistic” to expect Mitchell to come back on court as he suffers from a calf strain considering the time period.
With the Cavaliers, the five-time All-Star has a year left and his player option for the 2025-2026 season is $37.1 million as per BR. He is also eligible for an extension with the squad, if the Cavaliers go through with the deal.
