The Major League is trying to make NIL super star Livvy Dunne the new Taylor Swift, with the LSYU gymnast dating pitching sensation Paul Skenes, from the Pirates.
Swift started dating Kansas City Chiefs star tight end Travis Kelce in 2023 and the NFL fanbase grew significantly brining an estimated quarter of a billion dollars extra revenue.
Dunne is no Swift, but she still makes a power couple, with Skenes on the media radar with his X-factor speed.
Making his MLB debut on the weekend, Skenes helped the Pirates beat Chicago hitting the 100 mph a staggering 17 times and striking out seven.
Cutting to the stand was the SportsNet Pittsburgh broadcast, with the words, “There’s the suite, and of course obviously that’s Livvy Dunne,” booming over the loudspeaker.
The MLB social media team have pounced on the couple like a tabloid in Oscar’s season, posting a clip of a video interview with Dunne on their X page, as well as their Instagram account.
She even made an appearance on the league’s TikTok account,” captioned “Livy Dunne is entering her MLB WAG era.”
Even staid sports articles from the AP and ESPN mentioned the couple, while Bleacher report and CBS also went in on the news.
The LSU gymnast has the second highest NIL earnings at $3.9 million, behind only Colorado Buffaloes quarterback Shedeur Sanders.
The MLB will no doubt be trying to clock into her 5.2 million IG followers and 2.2 million followers on Snapchat – more than the collective of the entire Pittsburgh Pirates team.
First there was the Swifties invading the BFL, now there could be the Dunne’ys.
Skene may do well to focus on his laser arm, while Dunne can court the cameras.
