Cousins was recently asked if he would sign with the Falcons, knowing they would be picking another quarterback in the 2024 NFL Draft. To which Kirk mentioned, “I don’t really deal in hypotheticals. We could go down that path for a long time in a lot of ways. It just doesn’t do us any good. I’m excited for this opportunity that I have. I think it’s a real privilege to be a quarterback for the Atlanta Falcons, and I’m trying to make good on the opportunity that they’ve given me with the way I work each day and the way we play this fall.”
The four-time Pro Bowl quarterback, Cousins, also appeared in “Bussin with the Boys” podcast and dismissed that he and the squad have any “beef” over them selecting another prospect. He stated, “I don’t think there can be, I don’t think it’s helpful. We are trying to win a Super Bowl and it’s hard enough.”

Cousins shared, as per the NFL Network shedding light on the current situation, “Mike’s been great. (There’s) always going to be competition in this league, and you’ve always got to go out and earn it. I’m going to control what I can control and also understand there’s a lot that you don’t control. I learned a long time ago that you’ve got to focus on what you can control.”
Cousins tore his Achilles tendon last year in October and has completed six months of his recovery period, which is stated to be nine months. He hopes that he can be ready even before August, his targeted date.
Raheem Morris, the head coach of the Atlanta Falcons, also expressed that Cousins is in close proximity to getting almost ready for the training camp. The NFL completion percentage leader of 2015, Cousins, says that he feels tremendous after his non-contact sessions.
Cousins shared regarding his rehabilitation, “It’s coming along really well. Today I felt the best I’ve felt. … Falcons training staff is doing a great job with me on a daily basis on the rehab and I think everything is trending in the right direction. I wasn’t sure when I stood here in March — and I had just gotten here — how much I’d be able to do at practice, but today I felt I was able to do everything I would have normally done. That’s big for that stuff I talked about initially: building continuity, getting shared history together. So that’s a huge help, and (I’m) excited to see how fast we can heal from here.”
The league investigation is currently ongoing for possible tampering violations regarding Cousins and the Atlanta Falcons as well.
