The Dallas Cowboys have been relatively quiet this offseason and will rely heavily on their current roster to guide them back to the playoffs for a fourth consecutive season. One man that is yet to secure a long-term deal with the organization is three-time Pro Bowler CeeDee Lamb.
After a remarkable spell with the Oklahoma Sooner, the Cowboys drafted Lamb with the 17th overall pick in the 2020 NFL Draft and it is a decision that has paid off for the franchise. Lamb has developed into one of the league’s elite receivers and has put up big number over four seasons.
The Cowboys staff is back for voluntary workouts but Lamb is no where to be seen as he looks to negotiate a lucrative new contract. The 25-year-old is entering the final year of his rookie deal and is set to earn nearly $18 million next season but like many receivers in his position is interested in a long-term extension.
Dallas offensive coordinator Brian Schottenheimer touched on the stalled negotiations and what lies ahead.
“It doesn’t matter right now. CeeDee’s a pro. He’s going to know what to do,” said Schottenheimer per Pro Football Talk. “Again, I know Dak and the guys have some communication with him. We know he’s taking care of business and when he gets back here, we’ll certainly be able to find ways to get him the ball.”

Lamb finished 2023 with 1749 receiving yards, 12 touchdowns and led the league with 135 receptions. He also recorded back-to-back seasons with 1000+ yards in 2021 and 2022 and has racked up 32 touchdowns in 66 games since joining the league.
There are several top-tier wide receivers that are running out their rookie deals with Ja’Marr Chase and Justin Jefferson also waiting on long-term contracts.
