The First-team All-Big Ten wide receiver of the Washington Commanders, Jahan Dotson, has seen multiple quarterbacks trying to take the helm of the squad. However, the wide receiver believes that Heisman Trophy winning quarterback, Jayden Daniels will be the one to make his mark.
According to NFL Network, Dotson mentioned, “He’s great. I don’t know if I can say this, but that’s the quarterback that I wanted. But yeah, I was happy when we drafted him, I’m really looking forward to building a relationship with him, furthering our relationship, as I’ve known him in the past, but he’s been good so far. He’s only been here a couple days now, but he has big things coming for him.”

He further shared, shedding light on the familiarity he shares with LSU’s top-notch quarterback, stating, “I’ve known him since I was coming out in the draft. We were training together before he transferred to LSU, when we were down in Arizona. So, we built a little relationship there, and then I kept up with him while he was at LSU. Obviously, he was the best player in college football last year, so yeah, it was really cool that we got to team up and go at it this year.”
Dotson was picked up by the Commanders in the 2022 NFL Draft in the first round as the 16th pick. He has seen quarterbacks Sam Howell, Carson Wentz, Taylor Heinicke, and Jacoby Brissett play with the squad, but they were not retained by the team.
The wide receiver played 17 games last season and registered 518 receiving yards, 49 receptions, and 4 touchdowns. Regarding building rapport with Daniels, Dotson stressed the factor of relationship growth in off-field activities. He expressed, “I would say building a relationship outside of the football field. Getting to know each other, getting to know what your quarterback likes to do and then just talking through things in the film room. But I feel like the ultimate thing that will get us clicking the fastest is reps, reps out on the field is probably the best way that we’re going to build a connection.”
Dotson also shared that he has been working “really hard” as he was not satisfied with the results of his last campaign and that he has “really high expectations” from himself. He is looking forward to the next NFL season with excitement and vigor.
