The WNBA recently announced a new partnership with Delta Airlines to provide charter flights for some teams. However, the rollout isn"t league-wide yet.
The Indiana Fever and Minnesota Lynx were the first beneficiaries traveling in style on private planes for their recent games. Unfortunately, Angel Reese and her Chicago Sky teammates haven"t gotten the charter treatment yet.
Taking to Instagram, Reese also pointed out the issue as the Chicago Sky was gearing up for their season opener against the Dallas Wings.
She posted a selfie, likely squeezed into a middle seat, with the caption, “Just praying that this is one of the last commercial flights the Chicago Sky has to fly…"
She then quoted her teammate Brianna Turner, “Like Breezy [Turner"s nickname] said ‘Practicing gratitude & patience as the league introduces charter flights for all teams.'"
The league is presumably working out the logistics of implementing the program for all teams.
Angel Reese"s WNBA Debut Against Dallas Wings
Angel Reese"s WNBA debut is happening tonight at the College Park Center in Arlington, Texas. The game tips off at 7:00 PM CDT.
Reese, nicknamed “Chi-Town Barbie," was the 7th overall pick in the WNBA draft and a star player at LSU. She led them to a national championship in 2023.
This is the opening game for both teams, so it holds extra weight. The Wings are coming off a playoff appearance in 2023, and Reese will be tested right away.
However, there is a bit of a downer. Fellow rookie Kamilla Cardoso, drafted 3rd overall, won"t be playing alongside Reese. She suffered a shoulder injury in the preseason and will be out for several weeks.
