Rumors that Donovan Mitchell was looking for a change of scenery are nothing new but the Cleveland Cavaliers elimination from the NBA playoffs on Wednesday have only fuelled speculation of a possible trade. The Boston Celtics dominated to Cavaliers 113-98 to take the Eastern Conference playoff series 4-1.
Mitchell has been the Cavaliers star player during the regular season and the playoffs, but the 27-year-old has had little support as he tries to take this team to the next level.
According to a recent piece from Chris Fedor of Cleveland.com, Mitchell was extremely frustrated after the Cavaliers recent playoff exit. The report suggests Donovan Mitchell “grew frustrated with some teammates’ lack of maturity, focus, playoff-level readiness and a willingness to listen.”

Mitchell’s was outstanding for Cleveland during the regular season earning a selection for his fifth-consecutive All-Star Game. He featured in 55 games but helped guide the Cavaliers to fourth place in the Eastern Conference (48-34) and there were high hopes for the team entering the playoffs.
During the playoffs, Mitchell led the team in points per game (29.6) and steals (1.3) and ranked second in assists (4.7).
Mitchell is entering the final year of his contract and the Cavaliers risk loosing him to free agency if they choose not to trade him during the offseason. There are reportedly several NBA teams keeping an eye on the situation with the plenty of interest in the All-Star guard.
