Chiefs’ kicker, Harrison Butker was the commencement speaker at Benedictine College on May 11 and it became a rather controversial event.
Harrison’s speech included comments seen as sexist, homophobic, and against abortion rights. He spoke about women likely being more excited about marriage and children than careers, criticized “dangerous gender ideologies,” and made a reference to Pride Month as a “deadly sin.”
In a seemingly bizarre move, the Kansas City’s X account responded to the controversy by tweeting, “Just a reminder that Harrison Butker lives in the City of Lee’s Summit.” This was widely seen as an attempt to dox Butker, revealing his place of residence. The tweet was quickly deleted.
The official account of Kansas City just tried to doxx their kicker over politics

The Kansas City’s X account then released an apology tweet, stating that the previous tweet about Butker “was shared in error.” Mayor Lucas Quinton also issued an apology and promised to review social media account access to prevent similar incidents.
We apologies for our previous tweet. It was shared in error.

Additionally, the NFL has also issued a statement clarifying that Butker’s views “are not those of the NFL as an organization.”
Harrison Butker has been a clutch kicker for the Kansas City Chiefs since being drafted in the 7th round of 2017. He boasts an impressive 89.1% field goal success rate by ranking second in NFL history (min. 100 attempts).
Butker’s consistency has been crucial. He has led the league in scoring in 2019 and contributing to the Chiefs’ three Super Bowl victories (LIV, LVII, and LVIII). He holds the Chiefs’ franchise records for most field goals made from 50+ yards and most points scored in the post-season.
Even a 2022 ankle injury that limited him couldn’t stop him from bouncing back with a stellar 2023 season.
