Stephen A. Smith genuinely believes he could score on LeBron James. During a nationally televised episode of ESPN’s “First Take," Stephen A confidently declared that he could score on LeBron in a hypothetical 1-on-1 game. Despite his best efforts, he couldn’t convince his co-hosts, but he stood firm in his belief.
Here’s the scenario: Stephen A. and LeBron are playing a game of 1-on-1 to 100 points. Stephen A. starts with 99 points, while LeBron has to score a full 100. There’s no make-it-take-it rule, meaning all Stephen A. needs to do is score one bucket to win.
"Let me be very, very clear. I said it, and I meant it: If he doesn’t have to give the ball back, he’ll score 100 straight on me. I can’t stop him. I’m not saying that. But they’re trying to say, If you’ve got to get to 100 and they’re going to give me 99, I can’t make one damn shot." Stephen A. insisted.
"I can make one shot…If you gave me 30 chances at one shot?! I can make ONE!"
Stephen A. Smith doubles down on being able to score against LeBron 😅

Yes, Stephen A., that is exactly what they are saying. You’re not getting a bucket on LeBron James. Some actual NBA players can’t score on LeBron, and yet Stephen A. believes he can, despite his less-than-stellar shooting skills.
As someone who understands the pitfalls of irrational confidence, I can somewhat empathize with Stephen A. here. However, knowing your limits is crucial. Stephen A., it’s time to let this one go.
