Facing elimination, the Timberwolves seized control early with a blistering 24-2 run in the first quarter, establishing a commanding lead that they never relinquished.
The victory forces a crucial Game 7 showdown in Denver on Sunday night, with the winner advancing to the Western Conference Finals.
Anthony Edwards fueled the Timberwolves’ surge and ignited the offense with 19 first-half points, including a thunderous dunk off a steal by Jaden McDaniels that electrified the Target Center crowd.
McDaniels contributed 13 points in the first half, as the Timberwolves surged to a 59-40 halftime lead.
The Nuggets struggled to find their rhythm, shooting just 31.8 percent from the field in the first half and connecting on only 4-of-21 attempts from beyond the arc.
Edwards, visibly pumped up, rallied his teammates on the bench during the game, emphasizing the importance of maintaining pressure on their opponents.
“This is what I was talking about the other day. We get a lead and get comfortable. Keep your foot on the gas,” Edwards said.
In the third quarter, Edwards delivered a decisive blow with a powerful dunk over Michael Porter Jr., extending the Timberwolves’ lead to 66-42. He finished the game with 27 points before being rested in the fourth quarter.
Karl-Anthony Towns contributed a double-double with 10 points, 13 rebounds, and five assists, while Naz Reid added 10 points and 11 rebounds.
With a commanding lead in the fourth quarter, the Timberwolves cruised to victory, extending the series to a dramatic Game 7.
After securing the first two games in Denver but dropping the next three, the Timberwolves showcased their resilience and determination, setting the stage for a thrilling conclusion to the series on Sunday.
