World No. 1 golfer Scottie Scheffler was detained by police in handcuffs ahead of his second round at the PGA Championship. This incident happened near Valhalla Golf Club in Louisville, Kentucky.

A fatal accident involving a pedestrian and a shuttle bus caused traffic congestion near the course. Scheffler, trying to navigate the backup, allegedly failed to follow police orders while entering the Valhalla Golf Club area.

Reports suggest Scheffler drove past a police officer directing traffic. The officer then attempted to stop him and according to some accounts, even attached himself to Scheffler’s car. Scheffler eventually stopped the vehicle but the situation escalated with him being handcuffed and detained.

The incident caused a delay in the second round of the PGA Championship. Scheffler was eventually released, but details on any charges or penalties are unclear.

Scottie Scheffler’s participation in the 2024 PGA Championship has been eventful so far.

Scheffler started strong, acing his very first hole of the Championship with a 167-yard eagle on the par-4 first at Valhalla Golf Club. This came just a week after he became a father.

Scheffler and his wife, Meredith, welcomed a baby boy named Bennett on May 8, 2024. Scheffler has spoken about the challenges and joys of being a new dad while competing at a high level. He admitted it was tough to leave for the tournament but is focused on getting back home as soon as possible.
