“This will also be a deal probably above that $50 million range” Jacksonville Jaguars Are “All In” On Extending QB Trevor Lawrence Per Reports

Several NFL teams drafted quarterback in 2024 with the hope of securing their quarterback of the future. The Jacksonville Jaguars do not have that problem.

Trevor Lawrence was one of the top quarterback prospects coming out of Clemson University and the Jaguars had no hesitation selecting him with the first overall pick in the 2021 NFL draft. The 24-year-old is about to go into his fourth season with the organization and Jacksonville is keen to keep the relationship going for years to come.

According to ESPN’s Jeremy Fowler, the Jaguars are working on an extension for Lawrence that would make him one of the highest paid players in the league.

“He’s three years into his rookie deal so not urgent to have to get it done right this moment but Jacksonville, I’m told, is pretty committed to trying to get this done,” said Fowler on SportsCenter.

Quarterback salaries have shot up in recent years with five quarterbacks currently earning over $50 million per year. Lawrence could be next to join that exclusive club.

“This will also be a deal probably above that $50 million range but they are all in on Lawrence, they’ve been talking,” added Fowler.

Lawrence has racked up 11770 passing yards, 58 touchdowns and has throw 39 interceptions over 50 regular season starts in the NFL.

The Jaguars have finished with a 9-8 record over the last two seasons and have an overall 21-30 record over the last three seasons. Lawrence did lead them to a playoff win in 2022, defeating the Los Angeles Chargers in the Wild Cards round.
