At the tender age of 26, Cole Christiansen already has two Super Bowl titles under his belt and has worked alongside one of the best quarterbacks in the history of the NFL in Patrick Mahomes. It is a resume that most NFL pros would envy.
Christiansen is still developing his game and is fortunate to be surrounding by some of the best in the game at Kansas City. The Virginia native spent four seasons with the Army Black Knights and was eventually signed by the Los Angeles Chargers as an undrafted free agent. He made his debut for the Chargers back in 2020 and made the move to the Chiefs in 2022, where he has flourished. Under the guidance of defensive coordinator Steve Spagnuolo, Christiansen is on his way to becoming a top-tier linebacker in the NFL.
During a recent exclusive interview with Overtime Heroics senior editor Reggie Roberts, Christiansen shared who he thought was the smartest NFL player he has faced personally.
OH: “Who is the smartest NFL player you have played against?”
CC: “Buffalo Bills QB Josh Allen is pretty smart.”
The Bills surprised a few people when they drafted Allen with the seventh overall pick in the 2018 NFL draft. He had a rough rookie season but has out up big numbers over the last few years.
Over six seasons with the Buffalo Bills, Allen has gone on to rack up 22703 passing yards and 167 touchdowns.
Allens strong arm and his ability to run make him one of the more feared dual-threat quarterbacks in the league. It is no wonder linebackers like Christiansen dread facing the highly intelligent quarterback.
