The Kansas City Chiefs have been extremely savvy when it comes to finding value in the free agency market and Cole Christiansen is a prime example of that. The former Los Angeles Chargers linebacker was waived by the organization in 2022 and was pick up by the Chiefs shortly after that. Since then, Christiansen has gone on to win two Super Bowl rings and cemented his place as part of a Chiefs team that will go down in history.
Christiansen was a standout player at Army where he finished with 112 tackles, 2.5 sacks and two forced fumbles over his senior year. The 26-year-old has worked hard to establish himself as a day-to-day player on the Chiefs roster and should play a major role in the 2024 season.
During a recent exclusive interview with Overtime Heroics, Christiansen sat down with senior editor Reggie Roberts to discuss his career and which former player he looks up to most.
OH: “And finally, who is the lone NFL player — retired or no longer living — that you would have loved to have been teammates with?”
CC: “Pro Football Hall of Famer & former Chicago Bears MLB Brian Urlacher.”
It comes as no surprise that Christiansen went with one of the greatest linebackers in the game. During his heyday, Urlacher was considered one of the most feared defensive players in the NFL.
The powerful and agile linebacker was a staple in the Bears lineup from 2000-2012. Over 13 seasons with the organization, he racked up 1361 tackles, 22 interceptions and scored two touchdowns over 182 regular season games.
Cole Christiansen still have plenty of time to develop his game but will be hoping to make a similar impact with the Chiefs next season as Urlacher did with the Bears in the early 2000’s.
