“I had Jamal in handcuffs”: Timberwolves’ Anthony Edwards trolled Nuggets’ guard Jamal Murray

On Sunday, the Minnesota Timberwolves defeated the Denver Nuggets in Game 7 of their second-round playoff series.

Anthony Edwards and the Timberwolves are now headed to their first Western Conference Finals appearance since the 2004 season when Kevin Garnett was still on the roster.

Edwards struggled at the start of game 7 but came active in the second half to lead the team to the win. He posted 16 points, with 12 of them coming in the second half of the win, overcoming a 20-point deficit and walking away with the win.

After the game, he trolled Nuggets’ guard Jamal Murray, it was recorded in the arena’s hallway, and one of his quotes went viral on social media. He said,

“I had Jamal in handcuffs.”

Murray, the Nuggets’ guard, put up 35 points three rebounds, and three assists while shooting 13/27 from the field and 4/12 from the three-point range in 43 minutes of playing time.

However, per the stats, he only had 11 points while shooting 5/12 from the field in the second half. Over the series, Edwards restricted him to averages 18.4 points, 4.1 rebounds, and 4.4 assists over seven games.

The Timberwolves have advanced to only the second Conference Finals in their franchise’s history, the last time they made it this far was exactly 20 years ago.

They are the third seed in the Western Conference with a 56-26 record and will now play Luka Doncic and the Dallas Mavericks in the Western Conference Finals.
