The New England Patriots begin their organized team activities (OTAs) today with some of the teams biggest stars returning for preseason training. The Patriots season only begins on September 9 against the Cincinnati Bengals but there is plenty of work to be done before the season opener.
Newly appointed head coach Jerod Mayo has been active during the offseason with perhaps the biggest move the decision to draft quarterback Drake Maye with the third overall pick in the 2024 NFL Draft. The highly touted rookie prospect is an exciting talent but will need some blocking as we enters his rookie season. Unfortunately for the Pats, it looks like they will be without one of their top lineman for the foreseeable future.
According to a recent piece from NFL.com, coach Mayo announced on Monday that guard Cole Strange is considered month to month. The powerful offensive lineman was placed on injured reserve late last season due to a knee injury and is still working his way back to health.
Strange was a first-round pick out of Chattanooga in 2022 and has developed into on of New England’s top lineman. Over two seasons with the Pats, Strange has featured in 27 games.
The Patriots face a difficult schedule to start the season with the Bengals opener followed by the Seattle Seahawks and the New York Jets. They will be hoping to have Strange back sooner rather than later.
