Gymnastic diva, Simone Biles recently fired back at critics of her husband, and Chicago Bears safety, Jonathan Owens, in a strong message on Instagram.
It stemmed from an interview Owens gave months ago on the podcast “Uninterrupted” where he discussed their relationship. He admitted he wasn’t familiar with gymnastics and initially didn’t recognize her when they matched on the dating app Raya. Owens also said he playfully considers himself “the catch” in the relationship.
Some fans took offense to this, and Owens has faced online criticism ever since.
Well, Biles has defended Owens multiple times. In May 2024, she had another outburst, calling the criticism “blatantly disrespectful” to their relationship. She said that the original comment was a lighthearted joke and slammed those who kept bringing it up.
Now, Biles shut down further negativity with a strong message. She told critics to “respectfully, f*** off” and said she would block anyone who continued harassing her or Owens. Biles also admitted the online scrutiny hurt her, but she wouldn’t tolerate attacks on her family.
Simone Biles just competed in the U.S. Classic on May 18, 2024, which was her first competition of the season leading up to the 2024 Paris Olympics!
And, Jonathan Owens was there to support her.
Biles won the all-around title, which means she competed in all four events (vault, uneven bars, balance beam, floor exercise) and had the highest overall score. She scored the highest on both vault and floor exercise and came in second on uneven bars and balance beam.
Simone Biles and Jonathan Owens’ relationship blossomed during the start of the COVID-19 pandemic in 2020. They reportedly connected on a dating app. Simone Biles and Jonathan Owens got engaged in February 2022, not long after Valentine’s Day. Owens proposed to Biles in Houston, Texas. In April 2023, just a week after obtaining their marriage license, they tied the knot in an intimate ceremony in Houston.
