After a successful seven-year spell, the Buffalo Bills and Jordan Poyer went their separate ways this offseason. The decision to release the veteran safety was part of the a new direction in Buffalo with several high profile names moving out of Western New York.
Poyer signed with the Bills division-rivals the Miami Dolphins in March on a one-year deal worth $2 million. That means he will face his former employers at least two times in 2024, and is set to welcome his old teammates on Week 2 for the Thursday Night Football game in Miami.
The Dolphins defensive back featured in Micah Hyde’s annual charity softball game in Buffalo this weekend and holds no grudges against his former team.
“Seven years out here, man. I loved every moment of it. Thank you so much for allowing me to grow as a person, as a player. Teammates, coaches, everybody, man, I loved every moment of it,” said Poyer per NFL.com.
He also had high praise for former teammate Josh Allen at the event, labelling him the best quarteback in the NFL.
“Sorry we couldn’t get it done, but you’ve got the best quarterback in the league,” added Poyer.
Allen has been exceptional since joining the franchise in 2018 and his ability to throw and run makes him one of the game’s elite dual-threat quarterbacks. Over six seasons, he has racked up 22703 passing yads and 167 touchdowns.
Jordan Poyer joins an talented Dolphins team that won 11 games last season. He will be hoping to make an instant impact in 2024 with his new team.
