Report: Tee Higgins won’t sign tender before OTAs

Wide receiver Tee Higgins will not be joining the Cincinnati Bengals for organized team activities (OTAs) next week, as he has yet to sign his tender. According to ESPN’s Adam Schefter, Higgins does not plan to sign the tender anytime soon.

Higgins is currently the only franchise-tagged player without a long-term extension this offseason. Under the franchise tag, he is set to earn $21.8 million on a one-year, fully guaranteed contract.

The 25-year-old wide receiver had a challenging season last year, playing in only 12 games due to injuries. He missed four games with a fractured rib and the final game of the season with a hamstring issue. He recorded 42 receptions for 656 yards and five touchdowns, all career lows for him.

Despite the setbacks last season, Higgins has a strong track record, with 1,000-yard seasons in both 2021 and 2022.

Over his four seasons in Cincinnati, Higgins has accumulated 257 catches for 3,684 yards and 24 touchdowns. The Bengals selected him in the second round of the 2020 NFL Draft.
