After just one season with the Lakers, Howard signed with the Rockets in free agency before the 2013-2014 season.

Since leaving the Rockets after the 2015-2016 season Dwight Howard has been on 4 different teams. Injuries and chemistry issues have relegated the once dominant big man to role- player status.
It was an injury-plagued season last year as Howard only played in 9 games with the Washington Wizards before spinal surgery.
It’s a low-risk high reward possible signing because if it does not work out the Lakers can simply cut him since its a non-guaranteed deal.
