Smackdown Review 09/24/19

Welcome to the final episode of Smackdown before they move to Fox.

We start the show with Erick Rowan coming to the ring, he mentions that he is not an artist, but a creator of violence and he demands respect.

If you destroy and dominate, that makes you right!!

Daniel Bryan"s music hits, tells Erick that if you want respect, that he should fight him for it, and thus the Match is booked.

Very decent match, with Rowan dominating most of it. Bryan comes back in the end, and manages to lock in the labelle lock.

However, Luke Harper interferes and distracts Bryan, which allows Rowan to hit him with the iron claw. Bryan"s foot awkwardly gets caught in the rope and the ref has to help get it out. Rowan hits him with the iron claw again to get the pinfall.

Post-match, Harper and Rowan head to the announcers table, and before they can take it apart, Roman Reigns hits the ring.

Superman punch to Harper, but Reigns turns around and gets clotheslined by Rowan. Harper now proceeds to take Roman to the announcer table, but this time, Bryan makes the save.

Daniel takes out Harper with the knee, and Roman takes out Rowan with the spear. Roman tries to shake Bryans hand afterwards, but he declines.

Bryan then challenges the Bludgeon brothers to a tag team match (Did not happen tonight, so I am guessing it will be set for next weeks Smackdown).

I was initially intrigued by this angle, but not anymore. In my opinion, the only thing that can salvage this, is if Daniel Bryan did orchestrate the whole thing, and we get a mini Wyatt family reunion.

The Underdog

Chad Gable comes out to the ring to cut a promo, but Mike Kanellis comes out to interrupt, challenges him to a match.

Quick match, as Gable locks in the angle lock in less than a minute and wins the match.

Smackdown"s own Elias shows on screen, and sings a cool song about Gable. He sure knows how to draw heat from the crowd.

Very fast segment. Just glad we are getting to see a Chad Gable push.

Carmella vs HugNBoss

Charlotte is looking for Carmella backstage, and she runs into R-Truth. Quick segment that gives us a bit of comedy as R-truth delivers once again, with an attempt to do a Wooooo.

We get back from commercial and we get our next match, Charlotte and Carmella vs the kids role model and Smackdowns women"s champion Bayley and da boss Sasha Banks.

Carmella looks very improved in the ring, but ends up tapping to Sasha. Before we get any celebration from the victors, the entire Smackdowns women roster comes out, (Including Asuka) to chase after the 24/7 champ.

Bayley and Sasha then proceed to attack Charlotte, and out comes the Man to even the numbers.

I really do not get how Becky and Charlotte can be ok after all that they have been through this past couple of years.

I guess the enemy of your enemy is my friend applies to this situation.

Nakamura vs Ali

Your Smackdown Intercontinental Champion

Sami comes out and immediately cuts off his music. I really miss Sami dancing around as his cocky old self.

Anyway, he introduces the Smackdown Intercontinental champion, and we are set for our next match.

Very decent back and forth match, with the end having Ali hit a tornado ddt, followed by a good high flying spot, where he dives over the official onto Nakamura on the outside.

Sami interferes, Kinshasa, goodnight Ali.

I love the partnership between these two, glad we are getting T.V. time for both. And cannot wait until they turn against each other and we get Sami vs Nakamura.

New Day vs…… the B team?

I have no clue why we are getting this match, I guess they just wanted to throw someone to fight the New Day.

Not a great match, but did have some comedy in it, as the B team starts to run their b train mid match, only to have Big E join them. He then proceeds to take out Axel, midnight hour on Bo, match is over.

Post match shows the New day finding San Francisco 49ers TE George Kittle in the Smackdown crowd and they go and celebrate with him

Kabuki Warriors on Smackdown T.V.

We are taken backstage as Mandy is handing out her Maxim magazines to whoever she can find, and she suddenly runs into Otis.

Otis takes out a camera, takes a selfie with Mandy, and “steals" one of the Maxim magazines. Classic Otis!

Our next match is up between Fire and Desire vs the Kabuki Warriors. No mention of a winner getting a number one contender spot, so another regular/ meaningless match for Smackdown.

Decent match, ending with Asuka hitting Mandy with the codebreaker, and Sane hitting the top rope elbow. Kabuki warriors win!! Yes!!

Now, if we could only get them in the title picture!

Ladder Match: Loser leaves Raw and Smackdown

Shane comes out with his team of powerful lawyers and offers KO two options:

  • With the vast resources that he has, he can keep KO in court for years (appeal after appeal after appeal)
  • Drop the lawsuit, Shane reinstates KO on the spot, and will drop the 100k fine.

Owens explains that the lawsuit is not about the money, it is about getting under Shane"s skin, and finally getting what he has wanted for so long: Shane getting fired!

KO then offers option numero 3, KO vs Shane, loser leaves the WWE. However, it will not be a regular match, as Shane has always talked about moving up the corporate ladder, thus making this a Ladder match!

Hopefully this is the end of Shane on Raw or Smackdown, and he will definitely take another massive bump from the top of a ladder to end this match.

Smackdown ends with Sasha attacking Becky backstage.

Intense and determined Becky vs Cocky Sasha is what we all need!

Overall, Smackdown was just ok, nothing to get excited about. I guess you could say they did this because next week will have to be a hot show with the moving to Fox and Draft factors having to do with it.
