The NFL Draft is way off on the distant horizon, but plenty of athletes are preparing and playing hard week in and week out to get ready. In this article, we will look at three Quarterbacks who are on my watch list for the NFL Draft. In this post, I will go through why these Quarterbacks stand out to me at first glance. Let’s get started:
Tua Tagovailoa, Alabama

First up on the list is QB Tua Tagovailoa out of Alabama. It is not definite whether or not Tua will declare for the NFL Draft just yet, but there are plenty of teams that are hoping he does. The popular opinions in most circles say that if he does declare, then he would be the undisputed number one pick. Why do teams want him, you may ask? Well, he is a cheat code for Alabama. He has an absolutely incredible arm, and he is the first true gunslinger that the Crimson Tide have had in years. He can extend plays and make the craziest passes on the run. At the time of writing this article, these are his stats for the year as of October 17th:
- 2,011 yards passing
- 73.6 completion percentage
- 27 touchdowns and 1 interception
Holy statistics Batman! If you think the stats are impressive, you should see him on the field. As of right now, if Tua declares for the Draft, I have him going as a top-three pick if not the first pick of the NFL Draft. This young man is a sensational Quarterback who has the potential to be a once in a generation type of player. And trust me, that is something that rarely, if ever, comes out of my mouth. The only thing that is of concern is the injuries that he has had with his lower body. If he stays healthy, expect great things from this guy.
Justin Herbert, Oregon

Second on this list, Justin Herbert out of Oregon. Many NFL teams were disappointed to find out that this guy was going to stay for his senior year, but so far it doesn’t seem that it has hurt his draft stock. A lot of experts think that he will easily be the second Quarterback to go off the board in the NFL Draft. Herbert is off to a phenomenal year so far and is picking up right where he left off last year. Here is his stat line on the year so far, as of October 17th:
- 1,602 yards passing
- 69.1 completion percentage
- 17 touchdowns and 1 interception
The only thing that should concern teams about Herbert is the offense that he comes from. Oregon’s offense is fast-paced and quick-hitting. Most of the time, Herbert has to make only one read with the way the offense is set up. These are concerns when evaluating because it makes me wonder if he can make the adjustment to a more complicated offense in the NFL. Also, as a side note, Herbert needs to handle being under pressure better. When he’s hurried, he makes mistakes, but when Herbert is allowed to sit in the pocket, he is lethal. Expect Herbert to be a Top 15 pick in the NFL Draft. He has the talent and the ability to be the future of a franchise.
Jake Fromm, Georgia

The third and final QB on the list is Jake Fromm form Georgia. Fromm is a senior this year, and honestly, it feels like he has been at Georgia forever. Fromm is expected by most to be a late first-rounder to an early second-rounder. Honestly, he isn’t the best quarterback in the NFL Draft, but he has the potential to be a solid NFL starter. So far, Fromm isn’t having a horrible year. Here are his stats as of October 17th:
- 1,371 yards passing
- 70.4% completion percentage
- 9 touchdowns and 3 interceptions
Not overly impressive stats from Fromm, but they aren’t horrible either. His worst game of the year by far was against South Carolina, where they lost their first game of the season. He is a natural-born leader and an efficient game manager. Fromm definitely has a lot of the qualities you can’t teach. The worst thing that I see about him so far is that he can be inconsistent in his throws at times. Fromm will not be the type of quarterback to make an immediate impact in the NFL. He will need a year on the bench before starting. I have him going in the second round, but I wouldn’t be surprised to see him go late in the first.
