We are now to a point where trends are starting to take shape. Week 4 is on the horizon in your Fantasy Hockey league, who should we target? Who should we cut bait with?

Fantasy Hockey Week 4 Bulls/Bears

Stock up:

Paul Stastny: C – 41% Yahoo / 65% ESPN

Taking the 2C spot away from Glass, and running with it. Since: Stastny has been spectacular.

Nick Schmaltz: C/LW – 31% Yahoo / 63% ESPN

A 6 game point streak brought him to the attention of many. His ownership is rising as the Yotes seem to have found the gas pedal.

Mikko Koskinen: G – 44% Yahoo / 21% ESPN

It really boils down to whether or not you trust the Oilers. They’ve had an easy(ish) schedule to start, their power play is clicking at 40+%, and James Neal is on pace for 350 goals or something. Either way, ride him while he’s hot!

Nikita Gusev: LW – 22% Yahoo / 30% ESPN

The top of everyone’s sleepers list going into the year looks like a bust. The Devils haven’t been able to find a rhythm, and the line combinations are so in flux that it’s impossible to find something to create optimism about Gusev.

Shayne Gostisbehere: D – 40% Yahoo / 49% ESPN

After losing the top PP in the last couple games, it seems as if there is a changing of the guard to Ivan Provorov. It feels so weird to consider Ghost a drop, as he was so high on my list after his 65 point outbreak.

Nino Niederreiter: LW/RW – 38% Yahoo / 65% ESPN

3 assists in 9 games, playing on Carolina’s top line. Not good enough. The shots are OK, hits are so-so. Without the offensive numbers, it’s hard to hold Nino.

Adds/Drops for Next week: Oct 28 – Nov 3

Adds:

Jacob Silfverberg: RW – 39% Yahoo / 38% ESPN

8 points in 9 games, and a +10 on the Ducks. Getting decent minutes with great linemates. Anaheim plays a ton of off night games this year, and outside of Rickard Rakell, Silfy may be the next best option.

Nick Schmaltz: C/LW – 31% Yahoo / 63% ESPN

Ride the hot hand! Schmaltz has been hot as of late, and it’s about time! Get on this trend before your poolies.

Andre Burakovsky: LW/RW – 35% Yahoo / 30% ESPN

After Mikko Rantanen’s went down, Burakovsky took over on the top line. I would bet that we will be seeing more of that. Exposure to MacKinnon and Landeskog is not a bad thing!

Drops:

Vladislav Namestnikov: LW/RW – 10% Yahoo / 5% ESPN

Only 1 game in the week coming. Count your winnings from this weeks plum 4 off nights and cut bait.

Jake Gardiner: D – 27% Yahoo / 48% ESPN

From a TOI perspective, Gardiner does not have the top PP. He also has not scored in 5 games, barely shooting over 1SOG/gm, and averaging under 18 mins ATOI.
