Confusing Move
Genard heads to the Eagles off a rookie season where he garnered 4.5 sacks on the year and looked like a definite part of the Browns future. The thoughts were he could succeed as a situational pass rusher and develop over time to maybe more.
Obviously, something changed quickly in that building once Freddie Kitchens became head coach and brought in Steve Wilks as the defensive coordinator. All a sudden, Avery was at the end of the depth chart and not playing on Sundays. The Eagles get a promising young player while the Browns add another pick. Could this move be what is needed to open the door for another? Maybe. It is likely that Avery just didn’t fit in the plans anymore. This is further proof that John Dorsey will move anyone if he thinks he can get better in another area.
More moves on the Way?
Rumors are heating up that the Redskins are now willing to move Trent Williams. The Browns have been rumored to be after him for a couple of weeks now. Could this be the way the Browns make roster space? Is Nate Solder still an option if the Williams trade falls through? There are also the Halapoulivaati Vaitai rumors? It’s trade season in the NFL Browns fans, and Dorsey loves to wheel and deal. This trade might be the beginning of an exciting couple of days.
