The strong powerful defensive end from Ohio State, Chase Young is ready for the 2020 NFL Draft. He is expected to go number two in the draft and would land him with the Washington Redskins. Chase Young played 12 games in 2019 and had 46 tackles, 21 tackles for loss. Young had 16.5 sacks, 3 passes defended, and 7 forced fumbles. He is one of the best edge rushers in college football. I can see him being an NFL franchise defensive end.
Chase Young’s Strengths
The edge rusher has a lot of advantages and strengths. He has a great build but he is extremely strong. Young is 6’5, 265 pounds and he can really move well side-to-side. He can cover a lot of ground and get after quarterbacks. Chase Young can approach tackles in many ways and can make open-field tackles as well. He gets good leverage and extension on offensive tackles helping him get to a quarterback faster. Last season he did not receive too many penalties. Chase Young is a beast and a real playmaker.
Chase Young’s Weaknesses
Young’s play really has no holes in it. The only thing I’ve seen with the talented defensive end is sometimes when the play doesn’t involve him or if he isn’t in the center of the play, he will sometimes slow up. That’s the only time when he might not go 100 percent. Also, at times he can stand up a little early before making contact with an offensive lineman, therefore he might not be able to use his full body and all his power at once. Those efforts can easily be fixed, but this guy will be really good for a very long time.
Summary
Chase Young dominates on the field and anyone would want him on their team any day. He brings so much to the table. If you coach against him you really have no way of stopping him or even slowing him down unless you double-team him. The talented athlete can beat teams going inside with his strength utilizing his hand power. Young can beat teams on the outside with his speed and athleticism as well.
This defensive end is a top prospect and no one should overthink him. Chase Young will be an elite player in the NFL and will stand out to coaches, just as he did in college. Coaches will need a good game plan to be able to stop him, or there are some tough Sundays to come for other teams. He is projected to go to the Redskins with the number 2 pick, but whoever gets him will be happy to have him. Quarterbacks will need to keep their eyes on him the whole game because they will need to get rid of the football fast. This guy is coming and he is coming hard.
Chase Young Projection:
Chase Young will be a huge threat in the NFL because of his size and athleticism. He will likely go as the number 2 pick in the first round in this year’s draft.
