2020 NFL Draft: Georgia QB Jake Fromm Scouting Report

Fromm had 234 pass completions, 2,860 passing yards, and 24 touchdowns in 2019. This horse put up some good numbers for his team last season and had them ranked 4th in the final college rankings. Fromm is definitely one of the highly talented quarterbacks in college football. He will continue to grow and get better and that’s not a question.

Jake Fromm’s Strengths

First off, Jake Fromm is probably one of the most prepared quarterbacks in his class to get drafted this year. There are many areas in Fromm’s game that stand out and get people excited. He is great in the pocket and has a good set of eyes to scan the field. His ability to use all of his receivers at any time is outstanding, but if his primary target isn’t open he will get the ball to another receiver on time. When the pocket collapses, he stays calm and will take a hit if he has to in order to get the ball downfield. Also, I see Jake Fromm as a finesse quarterback. He does a great job of leading receivers on routs, and he can put jump balls in a good position so only his target can make the grab. He does good following through on his throws making them accurate and precise. Finally, a big strength with Fromm is that he’s great with reads. He can perform the read-option quite well and he is patient. He knows when to keep it himself or dump it off. This guy is full of talent and I’m excited to see what he can do in the NFL.

Jake Fromm’s Weaknesses

Jake Fromm has a few holes in his game to improve. First off he doesn’t have the best physical aspects. I’ve noticed that his arm isn’t the strongest. I call him a finesse quarterback because of the lack of velocity on some of his throws. He also struggles with throwing the deep ball. Fromm is an accurate quarterback but from time to time he has a hard time with fitting passes into smaller windows. Finally from what I’ve seen is his speed is below average and doesn’t scramble well, which can lead to more sacks. Fromm has some areas to improve but besides these few holes, he is ready for the draft.

Jake Fromm Production

Jake Fromm is a great football player with a great mind for the game. He is projected to go late in the first round. I think that if Fromm makes some small improvements, he will make noise at the next level. An NFL team will definitely take a chance on him this year. This stud is exciting to watch.
