Brought up in his hometown of Leeds, Liam Harrison first started training in Muay Thai aged 13. His amateur debut came aged 14, winning in a no head contact fight. He made his proffesional debut not much later, just before turning 15.
Liam Harrison is known for having one of the most aggressive styles in UK Muay Thai, as well as his powerful left hook and devastating low kicks. With 8 world titles on his resume and a record of 109 fights, 83 wins (45 by KO), Liam has been at the top of his game and the UK rankings since the age of 17. He’s highly regarded as the best Muay Thai fighter to ever come out of the UK.
Harrison has fought all over the world – Japan x5, America, Jamaica, Italy, Cambodia, France and notably Thailand, where he lived for 2 years. He’s fought there around 30 times and in both of the major stadiums. Liam has fought all of the top Thai and European fighters, including 3 close, hard fights with the legendary Saenchai.
Not only is he a fantastic fighter, Liam is proving to be an excellent coach. He’s able to clearly communicate and translate his experiences in the ring to beginners and fighters of all levels. With over 12 years coaching experience, Liam now has one of the most in-demand seminars worldwide, having travelled all over Europe and the US. This is something Harrison has taken great pride in, inspiring the next generation of Thai fighters.
Harrison kicked off his 2020 fight calendar with a bang at One Championship: A New Tomorrow. He made light work finishing Mohammed Bin Mahmoud in 2:03 of the first round. It’s busy year ahead for Harrison with fighting, as well as coaching.
Interview

What’s the process been like fighting under ‘ONE Championship’, how much have you enjoyed the experience so far?
Harrison – “I love fighting under the ONE Championship banner, the rounds and rule set really suit my style. It’s exciting for the fans and win, lose, or draw, you will get fireworks with me in those gloves. Plus, the way they treat their fighters and the production of shows is amazing.”
If you don’t get the title shot next, who would you welcome as your next opponent logically, that if you beat guarantees you that title shot?
Harrison – “I would fight anyone but probably a rematch with Rodlek would be good he’s now 3-0 on there so maybe a rematch there and then the winner gets a title shot.”
Could you give us any up-and-comers from Badco the Muay Thai fanatics should watch out for?
Harrison – “We have such a strong junior squad now but the 3 strongest are Finlay and Fergus Smith and Lewis George. They are all ages 13-16 and are absolute killers.”
After achieving so much in your career as a Muay Thai fighter, what would you consider your greatest achievement to date that stands out?
Harrison – “I don’t know, I have many great achievements and memories. I don’t think I can answer that question until I’m retired. I still feel like I have a few good years left and can still achieve some big things.”
You host seminars all over the world, passing on knowledge to the next generation of Muay Thai athletes. What does it mean to you for these guys to come and learn from you and look up to you?
Harrison – “Its amazing to be honest. I absolutely love teaching and I put as much energy into my seminars as I do my own training. I love watching people learn and progress and I love being a role model for the next generation.”
We would like to thank Liam Harrison for his time.
