Best Bets | UFC Norfolk: Benavidez vs Figueiredo

Another week, another card of Best Bets. I took a hiatus last week, as I felt there weren’t any lines that possessed tons of value mid-week. Nonetheless, we’re back and still continuing the 1-1 trend which puts our Best Bets now at 4-4 for 2020. Quick note, all suggested plays are (-200) or better so I never have and never will suggest super chalky plays mid-fight-week. With that being said, still need to do better for you guys and look to this Saturday. I’ve got 1 slight favorite and 1 slight underdog play for UFC Norfolk. Find out who they are on this week’s Best Bets.

Let’s get into it!

Best Bets | UFC Norfolk: Benavidez vs Figueiredo

  • Joseph Benavidez vs Deiveson Figueiredo
  • Jordan Griffin vs TJ Brown

Joseph Benavidez vs Deiveson Figueiredo

This is a good matchup between Joe B and Figueiredo but I do like Joe B in this spot. Despite a close SD loss to Sergio Pettis, he’s only lost to Demetrious Johnson. Joe’s fought the significantly better competition and I think his style matches up well with Figueiredo. Figueiredo has fought primarily grappling-based fighters so he’s largely had an advantage on the feet. Joe B is very well-rounded and I think he’ll be able to test the grappling of Figueiredo in this spot. I also feel Joe will land in the pocket but he does have to avoid the big shot, specifically the uppercut of Figueiredo. If Joe’s able to effectively pressure by mixing in his wrestling, Joe should be able to get the nod over the course of 5 rounds here.

Best Bet: Joseph Benavidez at -150 or better

Jordan Griffin vs TJ Brown

I think this is a solid stylistic fight from the matchmakers. Griffin has fought some tough guys and Brown, I think, will prove to be a tough out. Despite the higher level of competition faced by Griffin (Ige, Skelly, etc.), I think Brown is just slightly better than Griffin in every aspect of the game. Brown should be able to out-strike Griffin on the feet if he can avoid the big bombs of Griffin. Brown should also be able to out-wrestle Griffin and get some decent ride if he can limit the scrambles of Griffin. I see this being a gritty, 3-round fight that’s back and forth, but with Brown doing enough or securing a finish.

Best Bet: TJ Brown at +100 or better
