2020 NFL Draft: BC RB A.J. Dillon Scouting Report

A.J. Dillon is definitely one of the most talented running backs in college football. He has good size, and good speed to help him be a factor. Here is my scouting report on BC RB A.J. Dillon as we get closer to the 2020 NFL Draft.

Boston College RB A.J. Dillon

Dillon’s Stats

This big powerhouse is 6’0” 250 lbs. He uses his size to his advantage to get the most out of every run. In 2019, Dillon had 318 touches, 1,685 yards, 14 touchdowns, and averaged about 5.3 yards per carry. Every time he’s on the field he makes the most of every play and always goes 100 percent.

Dillon’s Strengths

This talented running back has so many great features about him. The skill is just off the charts. First off, his size stands out to everyone. I’ve really seen him use his size as an advantage when carrying the rock. He can cut like no other, and he can fight and pick up those dirty tough extra yards right before going to the ground. Also, what I really like is his explosiveness off the line of scrimmage right when he gets the football. He is so powerful and smart with seeing open holes and daylight even if they are really small. Another thing that A.J. strives in is his patience. When he gets the pigskin he doesn’t try to rush or do too much. He is willing to wait and bounce on his feet until a hole opens up. Everything that this guy brings to the table is fun to watch and he will definitely make a successful career out of this sport.

Dillon’s Weaknesses

There really aren’t many holes in A.J.’s game that stand out to me. One area that Dillon will need to improve in is catching more passes. In the NFL, teams like to use their running backs to make plays in the air as well. Dillon will be able to adjust to that quickly. Also, something that he needs to improve in is running the ball in space. I’ve seen from time to time him make a wrong move or cut in space giving a defender an easier chance to make a play. Besides those couple holes, I think A.J. Dillon is ready to get drafted. I enjoyed watching play and progress in college. Now it’s time for him to move on to the big stage.

A.J.’s Projection

Dillon is projected to go in the 4th or 5th round in the 2020 NFL draft. A team will take a chance on him no question. His size and skill will get him playing at the next level in no time. What a fun player to observe.
