The fact remains that the Atlanta Falcons are currently strapped for cap space. However, without making any resounding moves they will need to get creative to improve the defensive line. I believe that this offseason will be the perfect test for this team and show they elect to move forward. The following are three defensive line free agents the Falcons should target.

1. DT Gerald McCoy
After signing a 1-yr deal with the Carolina Panthers Gerald McCoy finds himself in a similar situation. He finished the season with five sacks, seven tackles for loss, and 13 quarterback hits. For example, Grady Jarrett finished the season with 7.5 sacks, 12 tackles for loss, and 16 quarterback hits. Adding another dynamic player to the interior could be the key to unlocking the Falcons pass rush.

2. DE Mario Addison
The absence of Vic Beasley leaves a large hole at defensive end opposite Takk Mckinley. However, Mckinley hasn’t shown that he is capable of staying healthy despite immense potential. Despite that, Addison would bring consistency to a defensive line that hasn’t showcased that in years. Mario Addison finished the season with 9.5 sacks, 6 tackles for loss, and 14 quarterback hits. Addison would bring veteran leadership to a team that desperately needs it.

3. DE Jason Pierre-Paul
The theme of this offseason needs to be veteran leadership. Jason Pierre-Paul‘s versatility and leadership ability should entice teams on his services. Most importantly, he provides value versus the run as well as the pass. Therefore, being creative and signing multiple versatile players will get this unit out of the hole its in. Pierre-Paul finished the season with 8.5 sacks, 9 tackles for loss, and 16 quarterback hits. Jason Pierre-Paul has produced everywhere he has played and it could be time to represent Atlanta.
