Marcus Mariota Signs With Raiders

Marcus Mariota got benched early in 2019 and replaced with Ryan Tannehill. Tannehill went on to have a phenomenal season. That made Mariota disposable. The Raiders were right there to pounce on him and bring him in to compete with Derek Carr.

Mariota was the second overall pick back in 2015. Now he is a Las Vegas Raider. Mike Mayock said that he was ‘very happy’ with Derek Carr when he was asked about him at the NFL Combine.

Turns out he and coach Jon Gruden weren’t very happy with Carr; or they thought that Mariota could come in and challenge him for the job. Either way, there is now a quarterback competition in Las Vegas. Now we just have to wait and see which one becomes the starter for the 2020 season.

Mike Mayock had Marcus Mariota as his number-one-rated quarterback when he was covering the draft for NFL Network. Now that he is a general manager, Mayock and Gruden may have their preferred man under center.

The Raiders’ next challenge will be giving Mariota and Carr another weapon to throw to, via the NFL Draft.
