NFL Draft Will Continue As Scheduled

A few days ago, I reported that the NFL Draft will not be held due to the coronavirus (COVID–19). Now, according to NFL Network, the 2020 NFL Draft will go on as scheduled but with major changes. Here’s what will happen. This comes on the heels of the start of the league year and free agency.

Yesterday, the Center for Disease Control (CDC) new rule of canceling or postponing events that are 50 or more people the National Football League has decided to hold the draft without fans. They will also cancel all fan events around the Las Vegas area. This makes a lot of sense as the NFL has canceled Pro days for college prospects according to Sports Illustrated’s

In a statement from the NFL posted on NFL.com a statement:

“This decision reflects our foremost priority — the health and safety of all fans and citizens,” Goodell in a statement. “While this outcome is disappointing both to the NFL and to the Las Vegas community, we look forward to partnering with the Raiders, the City of Las Vegas and the Las Vegas Convention and Visitors Authority for a future NFL Draft as well as evaluating opportunities for other major NFL events in Las Vegas in the future, including the Super Bowl.”

The NFL will continue to release information about the NFL Draft and its future events.
