The Arizona Cardinals have reached an agreement to sign linebacker Devon Kinnard, formerly of the Detroit Lions. The 28-year-old spent the last two seasons in Detroit after starting his career in New York with the Giants.

The Cardinals add a major piece to their defense, adding Kennard is an excellent complement to star linebacker, Chandler Jones. Kennard has never been a superstar, compiling 23 sacks over his six-year career. However, he has always been a solid and consistent player. He is most often good for around seven sacks a year.
The deal is a very team-friendly one as well. Three years, 20 million, with 12 million in guarantees. This is a good move for Kennard, as he gets paid, but a bigger move for Arizona, as the Cardinals add a major piece to their pass rush, a big assist to Chandler Jones. This is a good move because Jones no longer has to rush the quarterback all by himself.
The addition of Kennard will help him more than just financially. Adding him to a defense that already has an elite edge rusher will allow some of the focus to be off of him and increase his production.
The Arizona Cardinals should continue to add to their defensive front, so getting even more pieces to go around Kennard and Jones This could transform into one of the most dangerous fronts in the NFL.
With Patrick Peterson and Budda Baker in the secondary, the Cardinals could easily become one of the best defenses in the league.
