Panthers Mock Draft: Pre-Draft Edition

Round One, Pick No. 21:

Panthers Trade:

• Curtis Samuel, Wide Receiver

Philadelphia Trades:

• Pick No. 21
• fourth-round pick
• 2021 first and second-round pick

Javon Kinlaw | Defensive Tackle | South Carolina

In this scenario, Carolina trades back and an additional pick in this year’s draft, as well as two in next year’s. This is a big move for an Eagles franchise desperate to get in the top ten to get the guy they have their eyes on, Ceedee Lamb. This move allows for the Panthers to acquire more picks and still add a pro bowl talent to their roster.

Kinlaw is a freak athlete with a high motor who ruins offensive lines day. Adding him to a defensive line with Brian Burns and kawaan Short will give opposing quarterbacks nightmares

Round Two, Pick No. 38

Kristian Fulton | Cornerback | LSU

Fulton is a true cover corner who could go way earlier than this. The Carolina Panthers get immediate impact starters in the first two rounds of the draft. Fulton was not asked to play zone coverage much in his tenure at LSU but was good when tasked with it. He is a first-round talent who could fall due to off the field concerns and a leg injury in his college years. If he does, he won’t fall further than this.

Round Three, Pick No. 69

Prince Tega Wanogho | Tackle | Auburn

Getting a starting-caliber tackle in the third round is a rarity, but it happens here. Wanogho is ready to protect NFL day one, but his power and footwork need improving for any kind of long term potential.

Round Four, Pick No. 103

Anfernee Jennings | Edge Rusher | Alabama

Jennings is a first round pick if not for a season ending injury he suffered, twice. If Jennings can stay healthy he will be a steal of a defensive end for the Panthers.

Round 4, Pick No. 113

Panthers Trade:

Houston Trades:

• Picks no. 171, 240, and 248

The Panthers deal again here in order to acquire more capitol in this year’s later rounds

Round Five, Pick No. 148

Ben Bredeson | Offensive Guard | Michigan

Bredeson is a nasty road grading offensive lineman who holds up well enough to get by in the passing game. If bredeson shores up his pass sets, he can be a pro bowl guard for the Carolina Panthers.

Round Five, Pick No. 152

J.R. Reed | Safety | UGA

Reed is a similar player to one who roamed the Panther’s secondary last season, Eric Reid. He is an in the box kind of safety, but also one who gets lost in coverage at times. If Carolina surrounds him with talent, Reed could develop into a solid addition to the Panthers defense.

Round Five, Pick No. 171

Broderick Washington | Defensive Tackle | Texas Tech

Washington is a situational player who can develop into a good rotational piece on early downs.

Round Six, Pick No. 184

Lamar Jackson | Cornerback | Nebraska

Lamar Jackson is a depth pickup here who could become a good backup or spot starter given the proper development.

Round Seven, Pick No. 221

Binjimen Victor | Wide Receiver | Ohio State

Victor is someone who could break the rotation for Carolina right away. He is a big-bodied guy who could excel on underneath possession catches, but needs to add bulk and route running to his game before doing any deep routes.

Round Seven, Pick No. 240

Carter Coughlin| Edge Rusher | Minnesota

Carter Coughlin is a one trick pony as an edge rusher. He uses that one trick, his speed and burst, to great effect. He will be an effective situational pass rusher for Carolina.

Round Seven, Pick No. 248

Trevon Hill | Edge Rusher | Miami

Trevon Hill is the power version of Carter Coughlin.
