Breaking: Nets Sign Jamal Crawford

On Wednesday evening, reports have surfaced that claim Jamal Crawford has signed with the Nets for the NBA restart in Orlando. The Nets are already shorthanded without Kyrie Irving, Kevin Durant, Wilson Chandler, DeAndre Jordan, Spencer Dinwiddie, Nicolas Claxton, and Taurean Prince. This is exciting news considering that Jamal Crawford is a three-time 6th man of the year award recipient, and Jamal will be playing in a similar role when he joins the Nets.

Jamal Crawford’s Talent

Besides Jamal Crawford’s ability to score the basketball, he also brings a veteran presence to a team who lacks playoff experience. Crawford has played nineteen seasons in the NBA from 2000-2019. On one hand, Crawford will not back down from the moment and the uncertainty of playing without fans given his maturity. But in reality, Crawford is forty years old and his last season was mediocre at best. In the 2018-19 season, Crawford averaged 7.9 PPG on 39.7% shooting with 3.6 APG. In comparison, Crawford has averaged 14.4 PPG on 41% shooting for his career.

Realistic Expectations

While it is still unclear who the Nets will sign to replace Taurean Prince and DeAndre Jordan, it appears like the Nets will still make the playoffs as an eight seed in the Eastern Conference. The Nets are going to be a much different team in the bubble, and it will come down to team chemistry and the newly acquired Nets playing in sync with the Nets who started the season on the roster. The team will face the New Orleans Pelicans in a scrimmage on Wednesday, July 22 at 7:00pm.
